Just figured I'd test post. Perhaps a media page for any odd media we happen to spot? |

Thanks to Kell for pinning my "New to LaRouche?" post. I try to be careful to not seem as if I'm speaking for other people or that I have an "agenda," but of course I have to admit that I have an agenda. I'm guessing that someone out there has already guessed who I am, and I'd like to request that anyone please avoid using the name that I called myself on FACTnet. I realize Barbara Boyd or Adam Sturman or whoever could figure it out by process of elimination or my style and word choice(wow I'm paranoid), but if they want to work it out I can't stop them from DOXing me anyway. When and if that happens, I'll most likely decide to stop posting. At least that's how I feel right now. That being said, should newcomers officially be advised against identifying themselves or providing even trivial-seeming personal information? This is only if they're concerned and not "out", of course (a la Dennis, Molly, et al). I'm not saying we need to be worried about LaRouche org reprisals, but if a person posting has someone they know in the org, the org can use things said here against them personally. I see that Invision has messages about it in sending PMs and such, but I'd be happy to write a "PSA" for admin approval? Just saying I know people who regret divulging even the slightest detail. Thanks! |

A huge thank you to Kell, Man, XLCR, and others for this new board and to those who keep this discussion going. We should continue to strive for the following: 1. Helping former members deal with the ongoing effects and trauma of association with the NCLC or prolonged contact with LaRouche himself and 2. We should strive to educate non-members and former members about the LaRouche 'cult' (there is still debate between us and in general whether the amorphous LaRouche Organization fits the formal bill of cult, whether it has cult-like characteristics or attributes notwithstanding). @El Ron: I believe we should allow this to be anonymous as people wish and avoid the sharing of names or information that could discourage current members from seeking help or reaching out. I actually feel the e-mail requirement is a little much but understand its security uses. We should encourage venting, debate, questions, and anecdotes from and about the LaRouche organization and section out specific places for those things to occur. I'd be happy to help in any way possible. @all I think we need a better URL for SEO purposes. Has there been any thought to improving the URL here? |

Gotta have a new forum even if FactNET isn't around, until all is said and done and even going forward because this is one interesting history lesson for the future as well. Thankfully we got this up right before they shut down. After 40 years it's not surprising that the org outlasted a forum. Anything that needs to be added for discussion we can do. Hopefully here we can expound on things that would have been difficult on FactNET due to being constrained to one small area of their forum. As far as SEO we have to look into it. Any help and suggestions are appreciated. |

Gotta say this is looking like a good choice. There is certainly a lot more flexibility as to formatting posts, and such than there was on factnet, although I still wonder will there be search algorithms that help anyone looking for this site on Factnet to find this site. I noticed when I tried to go to the LaRouche page in Factnet it just disappeared. |

They basically erased everything, but I was still able to create a new topic with a link to this forum. Hopefully it stays up a while. Hopefully this forum generates enough hits that eventually people looking for FactNET will find this one when they Google it. Probable have to try and mess around with some SEO. |

It is possible to buy a "normal" URL for th forum. Perhaps that can be done in the future. It's also possible to buy the professional version of the Invision forum software but that's almost certainly unnecessary. |

How much would it cost? I'd happily kick in for it and if most of us do, I'm sure the cost would be nominal. But I might even consider paying full freight if it's not too outrageous (say, over 50 bucks) just because having a clean URL is so important. Bob |

I don't know how it is hosted, but I can tack a domain on when I do my godaddy renewals next month and go from there. I usually can use a coupon code or something and sometimes get special offers. |
